Back to the Movies returns to kick off the summer blockbuster season with a review of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! Starlord, Gamora, Rocket and the rest of the gang are all back to deliver the sequel we never dreamed we’d see before the release of the first film. It’s bigger, features even more transgressive humor, and co-stars none other than Snake Plisken himself, Kurt Russel. The sequel has almost too much going for it to fail, but does it stack up to the surprise of the first film?
To answer the question, I’m joined by recurring guest host Laron Chapman to review Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and discuss our current feelings on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the state of superhero films. With so many great options, has the genre started to outstay its welcome?
Laron and I also discuss our most recent adventures in TV, 13 Reasons Why, American Gods and the final season of The Leftovers.
